Follow the Presence of Jesus: “Finding Jesus”

Where you can find Jesus in my books
In my ‘Chris series’ the Holy Trinity is depicted in slightly different ways but always with the same colours: yellow- red/pink- purple/pale purple. In ‘Finding Jesus’, you will see these colours in one of three ways:
- You will see God the Father (yellow), God the Son Jesus (red cross on His tunic) and God the Holy Spirit (flecks of pale purple in the feathers) as ‘persons’.
- You will often see them appear in a much smaller, ‘echo’ form, as below, and with the same Trinitarian colours yellow, red and pale purple:
- The Holy Trinity will sometimes appear in their colours enveloping the ten commandments, or the Eucharist, or the ciborium:
- Yellow (God the Father)
- Red/pink (representing the red cross on the tunic of God the Son) and
- Purple (representing God the Holy Spirit). You can see this enveloping the ten commandment stones below.
Follow the colours
You could ask your 3-year-old to point out the colours on each page. As they do this, you could say something like:
“This shows us where the 3 persons of God are. Can you see the 3 colours? 1….2….3!”
Another time you could ask them to point out the yellow on each page. The yellow colour stands for God the Father.
Or on another occasion you could ask your child to point out the red or the purple colours on each page. You could then say that the red colour stands for the red cross on Jesus’ tunic. So, we know that Jesus is here.
Finally, you could also you child to follow the purple colour on each page and ask them to point it out to you. This is your cue to say something like: “Purple in this story book stands for the Holy Spirit of God!”
They might start off only noticing the strong enveloping colours. Then they might realise that the purple in the enveloping colours is the same as the pale purple on the dove of the Holy Spirit.
Slowly they will realise that there is a pattern of similar colours on each page and that is your cue to say,
“That shows us that God, the Holy Trinity is everywhere and is looking after us and keeping us safe.”
